Mask requirement lifted on Finnish trains

The requirement to use facemasks that protect against coronavirus has been lifted from this Monday in Finnish railways, rail operator VR said.
The requirement to use masks has been in effect since March this year.
“With the opening of society and the lifting of restrictions, VR has decided to move from a requirement to a recommendation for masks on all long-distance and suburban trains from October 25,” the statement said.
From now on, passengers will be able to decide for themselves whether to wear a face mask when traveling by train. The opinion of customers has also changed, the company informs. According to a customer survey conducted in September, only 43% of VR customers wanted to use a face mask, up from 58% in August, the carrier said.
