At the end of 2020, the revenue of the Finnish food manufacturer Valio in Russia amounted to 7.5 billion rubles, which is 8.4% more than in 2019, the net profit is 248 million rubles, the press service of the company reported.
The most dynamic growth in 2020 was the category of milk: in physical terms, the volume of sales increased by a quarter. Valio Eila lactose-free milk sales exceeded 2019 results by 53%. At the same time, sales of Valio Oddlygood oat-based herbal drinks quadrupled.
“Herbal drinks are not yet a volume-forming category for us, but we note a high interest in them. In general, the positive dynamics is demonstrated by the categories of products that have certain functional advantages – in particular, fortified with vitamins and without lactose, ”the company noted.
The milk category is associated with a sustainable development project that is significant for Valio: in 2020, the entire line of Russian milk was switched to packaging made on the basis of plant polymers – Tetra Pak Plant-based. This will enable Valio to reduce its annual consumption of fossil plastics by more than 50 tonnes, as well as reduce its annual carbon footprint by almost 98.5 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.
The manufacturer notes the growth of online sales in Russia by almost three times in 2020.
At the end of the year, Valio’s assortment in Russia includes more than 170 assortment items.
